listen, you flisters (yes i'm spammy today but for good reason), [personal profile] daygloparker posted this incredible page culling some of the very the best doctor who moments from the first 3 years for people who've never watched but should.   so if you've been curious about the show that ate your own flist or just been wondering why i've been in serious love with both christopher eccleston and david tennant this year, then head on over and settle in for a nice watch.  brew a cup of tea even.  it is youtube heavy so takes a bit to load, but remember patience is a virtue.  and then bow at the marvelousness that is [personal profile] daygloparker.

so last night in the battle between sleep and shows (himym and bones), the shows totally won, so i took a sick day after staying up all night watching tv and reading the massive episode discussion threads.  and then today, [profile] chinesebakery and i spent what was for me a lovely afternoon and for her the middle of the night talking himym and fic (her own especially), and it was fun and fun and fun, but now i cannot wait until monday!!!

plus of course post-the goat there is a ton of great fic floating around.  so i am going to rec a couple of them although most of them are posted at [profile] barneyrobin or [profile] himym_fic.  all of them will be spoilery through the goat, so if this is important to you (as it is to me) no clicky until you're caught up!
[personal profile] dollsome has written something so great it crosses fandoms.  i promise.  feet touch the ground.  this one by [personal profile] fromiftowhen is just so nicely done wow x sixteen.  great barney voice: “You’re speechless. Wow. WHAT UP.”  c'est si bon.  and speaking of french, [profile] chinesebakery has just posted a delightful one of two parter which, although i beta'ed, i can honestly rec as a terrific au to post-goat himymthe jiggy fallout   it has euphemisms and iphones.  you can't ask for more.

oh i love the fic!  and the stuff happening in the himym fandom is really sublime.  these people know their show.  and they can't write fast enough for me.  this is a love post to all of you!  thank you for sharing your brilliance with us.

this alone makes me wish i lived in los angeles:  the paley center!  an entire organization devoted to the promotion of intelligent media.  it's like my dream home.  panels of the casts and creative folks behind our favorite shows get to sit and wax eloquent about the work they've done.  the tickets to see the programs are surprisingly cheap and the programs are amazing.

just last night on dvd, i watched the feature on the 3rd season of the wire in which the creative crew (david simon, ed burns, and george pelecanos) and some of the cast were interviewed by ken "i am not a public speaker" tucker and it was fascinating!  so it was oddly serendipitous that this morning i'd find a post from [community profile] 206_bones about the bones cast's panel.  though the clip doesn't seem available yet, it will be, and you can bet i'll be watching that!

and you can see bunches of cool clips on the website from those various panels.  i just sat here with tears in my eyes watching my darling buffy (sometimes i'm sort of overcome by how much i loved that show and how much i miss it and how much joy it still brings me)--almost the entire cast (!)  and joss talk about the show (now that would have been an extra worth having on the dvds).  but the clip was way too short.  i hope one day they'll make the panels' videos streamable--i'd pay a membership fee to be able to watch the content online since my travels to new york and la have slacked off since i've been responsible for paying for my own plane tickets ie forever!

ok.  i've got new battlestar galactica, new doctor who and the final two eps of season 2 of the wire lined up, and while the whole process is processing, i've got angel to keep me company.  how much do i love the internets and my stories?  more than i can possibly say.

if you read doctor who fic and if you don't, why don't you?  (cause it's an amazing fandom with lovelylovely writers in it)  you must absolutely read [profile] lordshiva's (also known in these here parts as kalima) psycho savior, qu'est-ce c'est posted over at a teaspoon and an open mind.  her ninth doctor is just a whirlygig of wonderfulness and it takes place in portland!  so much the better.  oh i'm filled with love and awe at the moment.  woooohooooo.......

i actually have it!  i went to the doctor today after missing the entire week of work and she said i've got the real deal!  don't think i've ever had it before, not really.  and it's awful!  aches, fever, terrible cough, and now on the 5th day it's taking up residence in my nose.  go team me!  so i have an inhaler and some codeine cough syrup for the weekend; my brother made me a pot of chicken soup with matzoh balls because he loves me; and i'm ensconced, as i have been, for the duration in my bed.

in the past week, i've watched the entire 2 series of life on mars--feckin' brilliant!; dan in real life--oh steve carrell how i love you; michael clayton--george clooney is marvy; 3 episodes of lost--hmmm; 3 of torchwood--oooh; and as i'm writing this, i'm realizing i think i may have missed an ep or two of supernatural--yay.  plus i've knitted a baby hat and scarf.  and i've been re-reading clan of the cave bear (it's been years and years since i read that and had not realized/remembered what a fantasty novel it was) as well as grimm reality (a doctor who novel by a dear friend who shall remain nameless unless she gives me permission to identify her online).  never let it be said that the flu kept me all the way down!

but the bummer is that i've had to cancel all my fun weekend plans which included: a naked lady clothing party tonight, a haircut tomorrow morning, a baby shower (see aforementioned hat and scarf) tomorrow afternoon, and coffee/tea/doctor who squee with my dear [profile] lordshiva on sunday.

is it kind of nuts that after i watched all doctor who confidential cutdown series 2, i then watched all of david tennant's video diaries?   and talked back to him?  hmmmm.

so i'm reading my flist (man it's so hard to catch up after just a couple of days away and then there's that thought of, well, do i post a comment to a discussion that already has 4 pages of comments or to a post that's already a couple of days old? and clearly i digress) and i come across this interesting link on [personal profile] monanotlisa's journal.  and as i began to read down the pages, i recognized name after name as journalers who'd been around when i was fanning over buffy.  and it's so interesting to see the tide of fandom toss people up on similar shores.  i'm sure i'm not the first to be aware of this, but, as someone who's had some distance from the community, it's pretty fascinating to me.  so many buffy fans have migrated to sg1 and sga.  i guess the richness of the story telling and mythologies that have been created in these other shows, not to mention the sheer prettiness of all the people gets those creative/fannish juices flowing.  and thank goodness.  i mean what would i do, where would i be without all these marvelous writers around to sate my thirst for more more more fic 'n angst?  the mind boggles.  it really do.
